Got my TestComplete object code generator writing lines for all objects on a screen! This is a big time-saver and I’ll be using it heavily in the weeks to come. It took about 16 hours to write, and each screen I run off by hand takes an hour to set up properly, so this is a big deal.

This is going to save so much time because we spend a lot of time typing ‘Aliases.WNL.<screen>.’ then waiting waiting waiting for the code completion to come up with the discovered objects. This way we have a template, completely commented until the point you need a piece. Then you just uncomment and fill in the blanks.

The validation component reads the current state of the object, then writes a validation routine to test against it.

Now to get it using the little reticule to pick an object, traverse upward until it finds a ‘panel’ alias and then run back down the tree saving things off. Maybe later, I now have something I can use to get things done 80% of the time and that’s what matters.

ETA: I actually found a bit of recursion in the way we created the alias tree, and it took me like 2 more hours to pin that down. Back up and running though.

Welcome to my new home. I moved the site over to log.lowmag.net on a 301 basis because this is one step in adding more items to the site and I’m trying to do it without destroying all of the links i’ve built up. Eventually, I’ll have a proper redirect built in that will take one to a mini-site for deciding what section to visit.

Also, I’m testing hosting on mediatemple because squarespace is becoming rapidly limited for what I wish to do.

Interesting trick with standards mode. Given you have a correct doctype entry (I’m using html5’s <!doctype html>) and your link to stylesheet is ambiguous (going bleeding edge here by calling my stylesheet ’s’, instead of ’s.css’ and you leave off the type=”text/css”, Firefox 3.0.x won’t render your sheet.

Even though the default document type for a style link is “text/css”, it doesn’t work. The reason, I think, is in the server sending ’s’ as text instead of ‘text/css’. The cool thing is a file named s.css means the server will send the file as mime type text/css thanks to ‘magic’ and you can leave off the type in the link element.

    Tags: , insulin, rice

I hate being diabetic. I had some hibachi shrimp and rice for dinner and apparently the rice was too fried or something because I’ve taken 14 units of insulin so far for that meal. If taken with a meal, the insulin counteracts 15 grams of carbohydrate content. If taken as an adjustment, it’s supposed to reduce 40 mg/dL of plasma-bound glucose.

After taking the original 6 units with meal I was at 231, so i took 3 more units and waited another two hours. 341. So I had to adjust with 5 more units, and I’m starting to feel ‘normalish’ instead of ‘head asplode from high glucose’.

Wow, I lasted a day following Robert Scoble’s friendfeed until I noticed that he writes/friends/comments/etc. everyone and everything. Noisy.

    Jon & Kate

I just want to say a big “FFFFUUUU” to all trending topics on twitter. Seriously, #IranElection is the only thing that’s “real” on that list.

    Rachel Getting Married

I don’t really know what to say about it. It was hard to watch, mainly because of the home video cinematography. Everything in the wedding was too “quirky” and it seemed overdone. Despite the home video look, it didn’t trick me into thinking it wasn’t a movie.

Funded a Roth IRA with Vanguard. Thought I’d have to play catch-up all year, but it turns out I had to open the fund with $3000 so I have far less catching up to do than I thought.

If you are running Safari or Firefox 3.5 you will see this site is tilted bout 2° to the left. This is intentional. I’m playing with CSS3 selectors.

Switched this site over to Aksimet for spam policing. Spam Karma 2 is basically a dead project, and it also kept catching legit comments as spam.
